Maybe you know that I had “declared” and end to 2009: The Year of Cancer a few weeks back. After losing Todd’s dad on May 17th (lung, then brain cancer) and then my Aunt Tracy on June 13th (breast, then brain cancer), I proclaimed that we were officially “done” with cancer. Time to move forward.
My declaration came weeks before we learned:
1) That Hogan had a malignant (cancerous) tumor on his face, and
2) That Dad has now a second form of Cancer: B-Cell Lymphoma – for which he has already begun treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
There’s never any “good news” where Cancer is concerned. But at least both of the above are under control. Hogan’s looks like it is in the clear, and Dad is in great hands with the folks in Cleveland.
I bought a pink ribbon bracelet the other day and it contained the following message:
What Cancer cannot do.
Cancer is so limited.
It cannot cripple Love, It cannot shatter Hope,
It cannot corrode Faith, It cannot destroy Peace,
It cannot kill Friendship, It cannot suppress Memories,
It cannot silence Courage, It cannot invade the Soul,
It cannot steal Eternal Life, It cannot conquer the Spirit.
